Petition to End the Dog Killing in Ukraine

In advance of next year’s UEFA European Football Championship (or soccer to us Yanks), co-hosting country Ukraine is trying to clean up for the expected influx of tourists. Tragically, this has led them to try to clear the streets of their thousands of stray dogs and cats in a cruel fashion.
Officials are leaving out poisoned food for the stray animals and portable crematoriums are being used to dispose of the corpses, with some animals being incinerated alive. Ukrainian citizens are paid as much as $55.00 for every dead dog they turn in. Despite international protests from animal-rights activists and promises from the Ukraine environment ministry, the massacre of these animals appears to be ongoing.
We want to make our voices heard and hold the Ukrainian government to their pledge to build more shelters and halt the executions of these helpless animals. If you would like to add your voice, please sign the petition below and help us put an end to this needless slaughter.
