To the Obama Family,

I would like to congratulate you on your decision to adopt a puppy. Your intention to adopt a shelter dog is noble. I hope that you are able to do so, given Malia's allergy considerations. It will send a wonderful message to the rest of the nation about the animals in shelters and rescues across the nation awaiting homes. These dogs and cats still have lots of love to give!

Remember, in the canine world, they don't know what you do for a living. They don't know that you live in the White House. But they do understand the energy you project, and they know who sets the rules, boundaries, and limitations. So it is important that every family member establish leadership with the new addition - even Dad!

The best piece of advice I have ever received came from my grandfather. He encouraged me to never work against Mother Nature, always work with her. This is my message to the first family - and every family in America!
