Greetings!
This Father's Day, I'd like to celebrate one father-son relationship that is dear to my heart: Daddy and Junior.
Daddy and I are very close, but there's nothing stronger than a canine-to-canine bond. I brought Junior into Daddy's life because I believe an older dog that is otherwise physically and psychologically healthy can be rejuvenated by the youthful energy of a puppy. It gives Daddy a job: being a father.
When the fourteen-year-old pit bull met the two-month-old pup, the bond was immediately obvious. Daddy instantly accepted Junior as a member of our pack. In my opinion, there is no better influence on a puppy than the calm and balanced energy of Daddy - he's the perfect dog. Daddy teaches Junior the rules, boundaries, and limitations of the pack. He makes sure Junior receives comfort and peace. And they sleep next to each other at night.
Just as amazing was Junior's willingness to detach himself from his own pack and follow Daddy. He just knew this was his calling. Daddy has always surrendered to my creative way of living. He adjusts right away, and that's exactly what Junior did. Junior understood his purpose: to be himself, to be challenged with lots of walks, to follow our directions, and to be rewarded with food, water, and affection.
In their relationship, you can see respect, love, and a spiritual connection. Junior just admires Daddy tremendously. He never hesitates to listen to him - never. In a situation where I would have to tell Junior twice, Daddy just moves, and pow! Junior follows. One day, I hope to achieve the power of Daddy!
Stay calm and assertive!
