"Leader of the Pack" Episode 3: When Harry Met Cesar
Harry was an unfortunate dog that lost everything he knew and ended up at Whitehall Dog Rescue. Already seven years old, he outlived his former caretaker, who passed away three days before police found Harry in his apartment. Re-homed twice and returned twice, he is a difficult case. Harry has bad manners and pulls on the lead. His dominant approach to meeting new dogs has led to more than one fight.
When Cesar introduces a muzzled Harry to several other dogs, there are no issues, and when Harry meets an entire pack, he is overwhelmed and becomes submissive. However, in a real-world test in a dog park, he immediately becomes aggressive toward a much bigger German shepherd. It’s clear to Cesar that Harry will require a strong and reliable leader to control this behavior.
The first candidates are Uzma and Lionel, both psychotherapists who consider themselves human whisperers. They are an older couple who have never had children or a dog, and Uzma admits to being fearful of dogs because of a bad childhood experience. However, she is willing to overcome her fears, which Cesar tests with the help of Junior.
Next up are Daniela, a part-time dog groomer, and Mike, an ex-army captain. They already have two rescue greyhounds, Coco and Mia. Mia has her own shyness issues but has been overcoming them. Daniela and Mike decide to meet Harry as a pack, with Coco quickly taking charge.
The third candidates are sisters Abbey and Alice, and Alice’s boyfriend Krystoff. They live together in a big farmhouse and love animals: Abbey is an amateur dog behaviorist and Alice works with horses at a stable. They like Harry right away because he reminds them of their recently deceased dog Toffee — but will Harry’s aggression get him in trouble with the horses?
