DOG BEHAVIOR

Perro Cimarron Uruguayo

The Perro Cimarron Uruguayo originated in Uruguay. The breed descended from European dogs that were brought by early colonizers and then released/abandoned. These dogs began living in the wild in Uruguay and multiplied in numbers. After attacking livestock, the government paid bounties to have these dogs hunted. The breed was then captured by ranchers and tamed to serve as guard dogs. Today, they are the official mascot of the National Army of Uruguay.
