Jack, Rita, and Chula

Well, we got to see the much anticipated episode of Dog Whisperer with Chula. I have to tell you we loved it, not only because Chula was in it, but you guys, all of you, did a fantastic job at putting it all together. We have received many calls saying how much everyone enjoyed it, but most of all Jack and I want to let you know, and please pass it on to all who worked on it: EVERYONE did such a GREAT, FANTASTIC job.

One more thing I just have to share: on Easter Day, we had a large family gathering, and I stepped outside making sure to shut the door. Well, my three-year-old grandson must have followed me out, and I did not know, but, by the time I turned to come in the house, Chula was out on the front lawn. At first I did not notice she wasn't attached to her lanyard, but, when I noticed, I just made the "shhh" sound and told her to get into the house. (Cesar would be proud.) She ran right into the house.

Whew, I was amazed once again. Thank you for keeping in touch and for such a lovely and enjoyable show. We are true Dog Whisperer fans now.

Shiba Inu

I just watched Season 2, Episode 14 on NatGeo. Oh my goodness!!! I have a mini-sized Chula with a mega-attitude. Maya, soon to be 1 year old, has the typical dominate Shiba personality. Check my Cesar account as I have purchased the CDs, the magazine and am receiving the newsletter. I love you guys!!! In addition, I have been to two trainers and a Shiba Inu rehabilitator in order to learn all that I can about the breed and how to best train myself to handle Maya. What a challenge!! I love her- but know that I have some dominant and agression issues to work on. Maya had Giardia as a puppy so she was "babied" the first 5 months+ of her life. Since, I have worked with her, had her spayed and am still working with her dominance issues. I realize that I started late in training her(she was 7 months old when the teenage years kicked in- oh my!!). She did learn to sit and stay and down before she was 5 months old. I have spent the past 3-4 months working with her daily. Thanks for the tips on how to walk her on the leash. Like Chula, she likes to lead. The position of the collar is so very important. She still has tummy issue which make her grumpy and she will growl and bite when she is not feeling well or when she doesn't want to do something. I have learned to be swift and matter-of-fact with my actions and commands and it is working. She is growling and biting me less- note: she does not bite other people(just her pack leaders- I know, wrong!) Patience and calm energy has made the wordl of difference. She does tend to greet other dogs with a bark, but with a tug to the side and a "no"/"ah ah" she will then settle and ignore them afterward. Thanks so much for all your help- the CDs, magazine, episodes, newsletters- you have made a difference in Maya. She is still a work in progress so if you are ever in need of another Shiba episode- please call on me. Lisa Tapp (ltapp@triad.rr.com)
