Thank you, fans, for your support! In December, the Millan Foundation hosted an online auction to raise funds to help continue the mission to create and deliver community humane education programs and promote animal welfare.
The online event raised over $41,000 for the Foundation by auctioning 77 donated items including a four-night vacation package with airfare for four to DisneyWorld, tickets to the 2010 Television Emmy awards show in Los Angeles with hotel and airfare, and an autographed Lakers jersey with VIP dinner and tickets to home game.
The biggest ticket item went for $20,300, with the winner getting to spend a day with the Dog Whisperer himself, including airfare and a hotel package for two.
One of the fan favorites was an item that went to Melanie McNeil for $600 - a personalized collage of her dog by San Francisco artist Samuel Price.
"My husband Chris and I adopted Juno from German Shepherd Rescue; he lives with a male German Shepherd probably Pit Bull mix we adopted from our local shelter. They compete in obedience and rally and the cornerstone of their success is two walks a day for discipline and part of their exercise," Melanie said. "We love the portrait Sam did of Juno and thank you for setting up the auction and finding people like Sam to donate for a good cause."
The Foundation expects to host a similar online auction again later this year. Stay tuned for more details!
