DOG RESCUE

DEAR Fund Recipient Announced

The Daddy Emergency Animal Rescue (D.E.A.R.) Fund, which began this past February after the passing of Cesar’s right-hand dog Daddy, provides assistance for dogs who are victims of abuse or violence, man-made disasters, and large-scale natural disasters on behalf of The Millan Foundation.

In the past, the D.E.A.R. Fund has donated to organizations such as Veterinarians Without Borders for their efforts in the aftermath of the Chilean earthquake and Downtown Dogs for a hoarding situation, among others.

The next recipient of the D.E.A.R. Fund is the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) for the care and medical treatment of 13 dogs that were rescued from a hoarding situation. The Fort Worth Animal Control called upon GALT to take in several of the greyhound dogs retrieved in a hoarding situation in the Fort Worth area.

“The expense to car for these greyhounds has been overwhelming to say the least,” said Grant Coordinator Jack Tinsley. “Medical care as well as expenses for daily needs has exceeded in some cases more than $2000 per dog.”

The D.E.A.R. Fund hopes to supplement some of the costs of caring for these once abused and malnourished dogs and help find them forever homes.
