Cesar's Mutt-i-grees Program Helps Combat Bullying
Mutt-i-grees is an exciting new program in schools that uses dogs in the classroom to help teach children social and emotional skills.
The curriculum was developed by Yale University and North Shore Animal League based on the teachings of Cesar Millan. Funded by The Cesar Millan Foundation, the program helps builds empathy, self-esteem, and team-building to help kids better care for themselves, the people around them and animals.
By promoting empathy and compassion through dogs, the program has also been shown to help combat bullying in schools and is now expanding to more schools across the US.
In a recent two-day orientation and training conference in New York for more than 100 educators, Cesar spoke to teachers and used his 4-year old pit bull Junior to show how tension and energy can affect a dog's behavior.
“This is all about teaching kids to have empathy and compassion through the lessons we learn from dogs,” Cesar said. “From them, we learn that living instinctually means being emotionally aware and mindfully in tune.”
