Spaying or neutering your dog is an important part of responsible pet ownership. Unneutered male dogs that are not able to mate experience frustration, which can lead to aggression. Unspayed female dogs attract unwanted attention every six months. From a psychological and biological point-of-view, it is the best thing for your dog. When you get your dog spayed or neutered, be sure your dog is in a calm and balanced state. Never spay or neuter a frustrated, nervous, tense, aggressive, or anxious dog!
Pet overpopulation and euthanasia are a continuing problem. Be a part of the solution: spay or neuter your pets.
Cesar Millan
In the United States, seven puppies and kittens are born for every one human. As a result, there are just not enough homes for the animals, and four to five million dogs and cats are euthanized every year.
Sterilizing dogs and cats has been hailed as the most effective method for pet population control. You can help save lives by spaying and neutering your pet. If pets can’t breed, they don’t produce puppies that end up in animal shelters to be adopted or euthanized. Currently, over 56% of dogs and approximately 75% of cats entering shelters...

Amid all the pet food recalls there is so much controversy about feeding our pets commercial pet foods. Can you recommend a food that I can make at home for my dog? She has been eating [a national brand] since she was born. Now whenever she eats this, she vomits within two minutes. I have given her brown rice cooked in chicken broth for the last 2 or 3 days and this stays down. Do you have any suggestions? My dog is a German Rottweiler. She will be 6 years old in August, she is an indoor dog, and is kept current on all of her vaccines as well as Heartguard and Frontline. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Sincerely,
C. Teer
I usually do not recommend homemade diets for dogs. The pet food companies are not perfect, but they have teams of nutritionists who work hard to build foods that provide optimum nutrition for pets. I have always said that if the high-end commercial food companies made “human food”, I would feed it to my family and myself. If cooking is the only thing you feel safe with, there are several websites that can provide recipes. Once you do find one, follow it completely, including...

The Crate Escape. Rakim the pit bull’s penchant for getting out of enclosed spaces is impressive by any dog’s standards. But at only 3 years old, his destructive methods and aggressive need to roam eventually led his guardians to worry about his safety. And at the height of his turbulent behavior, they began to wonder if his reckless daredevil bids for freedom might be a sign that he was suicidal.
Brought up in a home in Southern California in which both of his caregivers worked during the day, Rakim was rarely indoors for very long. Often, the couple would come home to find him wandering the neighborhood, having chewed and broken his way through the thick plaster walls and out of the house!
Desperate to discover what fueled his destructive behavior, they called Cesar for a consultation. With a new regimen of exercise and a healthy dose of rules, boundaries, and limitations, Rakim seemed…

Join us again next month for more helpful advice from our resident vet Dr. Sherry Weaver, yet another in-depth pack member profile, news, and special announcements regarding our next contest and the release date for Cesar’s second book! For now, here’s a success story from Leslie L. of Chantilly, VA.
I became an avid fan and true believer of the Power of the Pack after adopting my first rescue dog Bella from a private no kill shelter. She was afraid of everything, and she lacked confidence and social skills. By applying Cesar’s mindset and remaining calm and assertive, I was able to bring her out of her shell, build her confidence, and see the sweet dog she really is. She has become a great ambassador to her breed and when people meet her they can’t believe she is a pit bull. She is so calm, patient, and obedient. They are shocked to see a rescued pit bull behaving so beautifully. That was almost 3 years ago and we are doing great.
I have since adopted another pit bull, a Katrina rescue named Wally. He was a shy guy, and after all that had happened to him he was reluctant to bond. Using Cesar’s method I brought him into our home, and after many walks and time spent working with Wally and...
