Cesar's Advice on How to Be the Next Dog Whisperer
February 2009 Issue 1
Cesar Millan Greetings,

When I was thirteen, I turned to my mom and asked, "Do you think I can become the best dog trainer in the world?" And my mom lovingly replied, "Of course, mi amor! You can be whatever you want!"

We receive tons of email and letters from kids who want to become the next Dog Whisperer. Here's the best advice I can give you: surround yourself with those who care about you and believe in you. If you're not lucky enough to have supportive parents like I did, that's okay - share your dreams with your dog! He'll support you!

Above all, remember it is possible. I was just a poor kid from Mexico with a big dream - and look where I am today! Socioeconomics doesn't matter. You can be the poorest kid in the world with the biggest dream in the world. It's the dream that matters.

The world is formed by people who dream big, but remain humble. Be confident, believe in yourself, and feel good about who you are - but don't become arrogant. It is important to be grounded and maintain an open mind, so you can grow and learn to be even better!

Leadership comes from what you create in your own environment. Begin by reaching out to your neighborhood, and then move out into the rest of the world. Don't just dream - do! Take action and make that dream a reality!

Stay calm and assertive,

Cesar Millan

Cesar's Pack People: Courtney Oliver
Most of us can still remember what we wanted to grow up to be when we were very young. We dreamt of becoming pilots, firemen, movie stars, doctors, lawyers, or the President of the United States.

Cesar Millan himself imagined one day becoming the finest dog trainer in the world. When Courtney Oliver was 7, her dream was to become a veterinary assistant. And just two weeks after her tenth birthday, she made that dream a reality... Read on.

Ask Cesar: In-Depth Interview with Miss Sonny Milio
For this month's Dogs & Kids exclusive with Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan, we engaged the services of one of the most tireless and hard-hitting investigative reporters working in the Cesar Millan, Inc. newsroom.

The resulting interview is a fascinating and intimate portrait of a man who has dedicated his life to helping foster positive relationships between people and dogs.

What Dogs Can Give to Children
Dogs are the ultimate teachers. They allow children to have a special connection with Mother Nature. Through a relationship with a dog, a child can learn compassion, kindness, and the value of giving. Dogs give unconditional love, but they never expect anything in return. That is something any child can learn from.

It is our responsibility to make sure our children can safely take advantage of these lessons that dogs have to offer. If I had my way, every child across the globe would learn to practice "no touch, no talk, no eye contact" when first meeting a dog. Too many accidents occur when a child approaches a dog before allowing the dog to use his nose, eyes, and ears first.

CesarMillanKids.com, which was created by the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation, provides a safe, easy-to-navigate environment for kids to experience the internet and learn about their dogs.
