Cesar Millan Heads to the Great Outback!
June 2009 Issue 1
Cesar Millan Greetings,

Before my first trip to Australia, I was informed that Australians are very reserved. If they see you, they won't come up and tell you that they love the show. Well, I can tell you that's not what I experienced! I met many human beings who are very much in love with their dogs. And they have the same behavioral problems with their dogs that we do here in the United States. The only difference was the accent!

On that first trip, I was only able to visit Sydney. It was a beautiful city. There was an outdoorsy feeling. I saw the Sydney Harbor Bridge, which people like to climb for a view over the city, and, of course, the famous Sydney Opera House!

The funniest part is I didn't get to meet an Australian dog there. I met an Australian shepherd in Fiji, but I met a Chihuahua, a poodle, and a Labrador in Sydney. During my seminar tour this month, I hope I will get the chance to meet an Australian dog in its native land, and I look forward to seeing other parts of the country -- Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane -- and meeting more of the wonderful people Down Under!

Stay calm and assertive,

Cesar Millan

Australian Dog Breeds
With Cesar taking his live seminar to the great Australian wilderness (Sydney, oh my!), we at CMI thought this would be an excellent moment to catch you up on some of Oz's most popular and hard-working dog breeds. Ace!

The Overall Health of Your Dog
The pack is a family unit, and every pack leader naturally wants to ensure the vitality and longevity of his or her family members. We want the years that we spend together with our packs to be happy and lively ones.

But in a world in which we breathe in pollutants and toxins daily, eat over-processed foods with little nutritional value, and find ourselves subject to germs and bacteria that can cause illness and other serious medical conditions, what can be done to brace up and fortify the health of our beloved canine companions?

As a pack leader, it's up to you to take responsibility. Here are some tips to keep your dogs barking well into their senior years!

Ask Cesar: Moving to Australia
My name is Rhian, and my dog is called Taz. She is a seven-year-old Lab/Collie mix. My partner and I have decided to move to Australia, and I am so worried about her going. Will she make the flight? Is she too old to fly?

They say not to feed her for 24 hours before the flight, and the flight is 24 hours on top of that‰¥Ï won't she starve? I will be taking her to a couple of vets to make sure she is healthy before the flight. But I am scared I will be doing the wrong thing by taking her. Please help!

Pack Profile: Shadow
A Walk through the Valley with Shadow

Many months ago, we had the pleasure of introducing you to a very special and somewhat self-involved Schipperke mix named Sheeba.

These days, despite being the second of CMI eCommerce Manager Jon's current pack, Sheeba has taken the lead as the Alpha dog (relinquishing ultimate command of the pack to Jon, himself.) But it wasn't always thus!

Just eleven days after the death of Jon's first Westie-American Eskimo mix Daisy, a timid, frightened, and easily carsick white German Shepherd named Shadow was the first of the future pair to join the pack in Valley Village, starting her on the relatively short road to recovery under his care.
