| Sneak Peek: August Premieres |
Dog Whisperer premieres return this month, beginning with a brand new episode airing August 7th at 9 pm ET on the National Geographic Channel! As a six-month old, Jorge Huerta's Akita Roscoe displayed all of the normal behavioral traits of a happy, healthy puppy, plus one unfortunate extra: intense fear of the outdoors and of Jorge himself! Roscoe has grown up terrified of the world outside his home and attempts to break free whenever Jorge takes the leash... and as a result, he has never been walked! Cesar is called in to teach Roscoe to walk Cesar's way.
Then, on August 14th at 9pm ET, Cesar rides in to help Debbie Ruggiero, whose yellow Lab mix Harley is out of control! Destructive and dominant, Harley makes a habit of jumping up on and attempting to mount Debbie and responds to any discipline or correction with play behavior. Can Cesar calm this revved-up Harley? Then, later in this episode, Heather and Chris Rupp seek Cesar's help socializing their anxious Australian shepherd Annabelle, who whines and attempts to start fights with other dogs. And finally, Greg and Karen Cowell's adopted Weimaraner Memphis is a black hole for food, eating everything in sight and even licking dirty dishes sitting in soapy water! The Cowell's disciplinary measures have gone unheeded, so Cesar is on the job. Can he show this wily Weimaraner what boundaries are all about?

| The Millan Foundation's 40 for 40 Campaign! |
Hey Dog Whisperer fans! We're planning a special surprise for the month of August, and we need your help to make it happen! To coincide with Cesar's 40th birthday on August 27th, the staff of Cesar Millan, Inc. and the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation are rallying the troops.
We hope that each of you will donate whatever you can to the non-profit Foundation to help us reach our birthday goal of $40,000. A modest donation of even just $1 from every recipient of this newsletter will help us provide the money, equipment, and rehabilitation expertise that the shelters and rescue organizations we serve so desperately need.
It's our 40 for 40 Campaign, and we hope we can count on your support to help spread Cesar's birthday cheer to thousands of shelter and rescue dogs across the nation!

"It was a dark and stormy night..."
For most people, that classic line calls up images of ghost stories told over marshmallows toasted beside a crackling campfire. But for pack leaders with fearful dogs, it's more likely to conjure up thoughts of their canine friend cowering beneath the bed, whining or barking madly, or shivering and drooling with tail tucked neatly between hind legs. A thunderstorm can be a nightmare for dogs that fear loud noises. Thunderstorms can strike with very little warning, at any time of day, and last for hours. The shock from a sudden clap of thunder can be devastating.
So how can your fearful dog overcome his anxiety when the weather turns against you?
Here are some tips. |
| Ask Cesar: How to Raise a Balanced Pit Bull |
I adopted a male pit bull when he was between 8 and 10 weeks old. This is my first pit bull. I have two labs at home, 7 and 10, both males.
I want to know what I need to do to make sure my pit bull never attacks my labs. Can I have any advice on how to do this?
My pit is about 5 months old and is getting neutered in a few weeks. I just want to be aware of anything I can do to make sure that he does not become dog or human aggressive.

| Hero of the Month & Next Newsletter |
For this month's edition of the CMI newsletter, we're celebrating not one, but two heroes of Cesar's choosing. When asked to select from August's nominations, Cesar felt strongly that these two stories had an appropriate symmetry that should be recognized by our readers. In his words, "this is a demonstration of the younger generation practicing selflessness and showing us that there are other species you can help, and the older generation reminding us that it is important to help each other, even when you think you are alone." So, a very special thank you to both of our August heroes: Sara Eastman (age 7) of Colebrook, NH, and Katya of Belgrade, Serbia. |
