Minnie Makes It Big

Minnie is the newest addition to the Millan household, and at only eight months old and just barely as large as the bowl she eats out of, she is officially the smallest member of Cesar's pack!

This miniscule mix of Chihuahua and as-yet unidentified wire-haired terrier was a gift to commemorate Cesar's most recent birthday. Though Cesar warns against giving dogs as gifts and is a vocal advocate of care and research before any puppy purchase, it was hardly an offer they could refuse. Minnie brought with her all of the timidity common to small dogs - and then some!

The first two months were a struggle to keep Minnie from hiding under any piece of furniture she could squeeze beneath. She was hesitant in the office to stay close to any human being or animal she didn’t see on a daily basis, and seemed to be constantly on the look-out – always wide-eyed and trembling. With structure and discipline, Cesar has helped her to make a great deal of progress. Cesar’s commanding presence as pack leader has soothed her nerves, and under a relaxed puppy exercise regimen (twice a day for 15 to 20 minutes), she has grown both in size and in spirit. She is learning to socialize with other dogs in the neighborhood, and is helping in her own way to bring balance to the pack in the form of a much-needed female canine element.

To others who may have received puppies as gifts this holiday season, Cesar recommends patience as well as the requisite rules, boundaries, and limitations. Provide the foundation for a healthy and balanced pup, and let them grow in their own time - even if twelve inches from nose to tail is all they can physically manage!

Minnie

Oh My! Minnie looks just like our MiMee (original name Minnie before her rescue in September 2008.) MiMee is a 1 1/2 year old chihuahua mix, with half chi, quarter Shih tzu and quarter Pekinese. Her coloring is the same as your Minnie and she's about 5 1/2 lbs. One thing that caught my eye at the rescue was her whispy coat, somewhat terrier looking when she was a baby and since we've had Scottish terriers for years prior to adopting her I thought she would be a perfect addition. She has been our joy....and in fact we have since rescued 3 more chihuahuas ....all pure bred and wonderful too. And Cesar you must know...getting MiMee and working through puppyhood with her is what started us watching your EVERY show and seeing you LIVE in Atlanta. Thanks for everything!

Buddy My Chihuahua

My Chihuahua, Buddy looks exactly like Minnie. I have been searching for months and could not find any dog that looks like Buddy. To my surprise, when I saw Minnie I was floored because they look identical. I know Buddy is a chihuahua yet my Vet didn't realize he was a chihuahua. Does anyone know what kind of chihuahua Minnie and Buddy are? And why can't I find any more like them?

My Punky

OMG.. I have a dog that also looks like Minnie. When i first saw Minnie and got excited because i also have never seen a dog like my Punk. My Punky is half Chihuahua, a quarter Shih Tzu and a quarter Dachshund. Punky's mama is half Chihuahua and half Shih Tzu. Punky's daddy is half Chihuahua and half Dachshund. I'm guessing my Punky gets the hair from the Shih Tzu side, she likes to burrow like the Dachshund and shakes and barks like the Chihuahua. She also stands on her hind legs like Minnie did in that one episode when she wanted food. I dont know if this helps any. At least we know our dogs are unique. However i would like to see a pic of your dog.
