Although labs are naturally a water-loving breed, that does not necessarily mean your lab puppy will immediately take to water. Find exercises to encourage your dog's instincts in order to bring out that breed trait. Once your dog is comfortable in the water, you may want to consider taking it a step further with an activity like dock diving!

Interesting Fact: This small yellow lab does not have any concept of his size when playing with the full grown pit bulls in the pack. This can create a dangerous situation if not handled. Even without an aggressive intent, a large dog can accidentally injure a small dog. Teaching your dog playtime "manners" can save his life.

Playtime with manners

I also have a 4 month old yellow Lab.....he is the same as Blizzard. He is going with the BIG GUYS!
My 4 year old black Lab/Border Collie mix is so nice and gentle with him...that I tell him to put his paw down ,LOL!!!!
Turbo doesn't care about age ,when he is ready to play he is ready to play!
I'm working very hard with him, spending a lot of time training and walking, also work with both at the same time. But the little one is like training ten of my older one !

So is there any suggestions on how to get the larger dog to play softer with the small dogs?

Big Dog Vs Small Dog

Yes I would like to know if a simple correction here and there is enough to teach the play manners. I watch them whenever they are playing and for the most part our puppy responds to our older dog's request to either play or stop playing at times. Sometimes I worry things will be different when the puppy gets bigger than our older dog. Although I do have to correct the puppy with possessive postures over our dog when the puppy finds a bone ect. We have an estimated 3 yr old fox terrier chihuahah mix rescue(she is tall like a terrier) and the puppy is a 2 1/2 month old golden retriever husky mix. Play time isn't the worst issue I worry about it's more an impulse control problem when my 2 yr old son has food, the puppy can't resist. I correct her until she almost ignores my correction by running away and then returning for another food grabbing attempt as soon as I return to what I was doing. That's when I put her on a leash and am able to control her better during the difficult impulse control time. She used to have other impulse issues, but she has learned very quickly with Cesar's methods. Am I right in what I am doing? Will she learn better impulse control as she matures?
