I have been an avid fan of your show, Dog Whisperer. I am 23 years old and have 2 horses and a dog named Brandy who is a 6-year-old female brindle Boxer. I live with a condition known as Cerebral Palsy but I don't let it get me down. I am a student of Pat Parelli's natural horsemanship program and while I'm learning to be a leader for horses through Pat, you are teaching me how to be a leader for dogs. When I first got Brandy she was my parents' worst nightmare. She would jump on the couch, come into the kitchen and chewed things up. A week after I got her I started reading your book, Cesar's Way, to learn how to change Brandy's behavior.
While I was reading your book I started immediately changing Brandy's behavior by taking her for walks everyday and snapping my fingers at her to stop the unwanted behaviors. She started catching on and now she doesn't even go into the kitchen or get on the couch anymore. Not only did I apply what I had learned to my own dog but what you teach is to be a leader and I now can say that I don't have problems with other people's dogs trying to fight with Brandy when I take her for her walks, and even when I'm riding my horse Jazz I just stay calm and snap my fingers at the dog and the dog stops and turns around to go back home.
I had an incident earlier this summer when I had just got done feeding the horses and a neighbor's wolf hybrid had gotten into the horse pasture with one of our young horses. I could see the owner getting very frustrated with the dog because the dog wouldn't come to him. I immediately entered the pasture, looking my horse over, before turning my attention to the dog. I became very calm and the dog ran up to me and immediately laid down at my feet. The dog stayed like that and to my own surprise I grabbed her collar with no problem and returned her to the owner.
I understand that you're a very busy person for what you do with dogs but I really wanted to say thank you because you helped change my dog by putting the knowledge on your show and in your books. Not only that but you taught me how to be a better pack leader for dogs. Thank you so much and may god bless you and your family for the wonderful work that you do.
