I became determined to get our 501c3 pushed through for our Licensed Shelter Home. We took in around 40 dogs last year, rehabilitated them, and provided medical care. I also took a hard look at how I treated one of our very special needs dogs.
I had not provided her the rules, boundaries, and limitations I did with the other dogs, and she developed some very unbecoming issues.
With some work, she is now doing much better and showing some very positive improvement!
Next year, I am going to set a goal to spend more time with my own dogs -- they have at times taken a back seat to the foster dogs -- and I will set boundaries for myself and my family in regards to rescue.

One of my personal goals this past year was to pass by more dogs with Rook more calmly without getting tense and, therefore, maintain Rook's calm-submissive and focused energy.
It's getting better day by day. It's amazing how our energy affects our dogs. I have an ongoing resolution to "let go of the past" and focus on the now, and move forward with Rook (and other aspects in my life)! I am thankful that Rook and Cesar have helped me become a calm and assertive pack leader!

My New Year's resolutions had several parts regarding Orry, a (then) 5 month old Rough Collie. One resolution was to get Orry to negotiate stairs. Done. (Finally, that is.) Another was to get Orry to jump into the car on his own. Done. Still another was to teach new things each month. Done.
I believe that with dogs, as with humans, we are each a work in progress.
