Celebrating K9 Veterans Day

In the United States, we rest safe and sound at night thanks to the service of brave men, women… and dogs! Every year on March 13th, K9 Veterans Day honors not only those in the K9 Corps, but also the Police K9s, Customs K9s, Border Patrol K9s, Secret Service K9s, Airport Police K9s, F.B.I. K9s, and other dogs that protect us every day.

Canine Intelligence

Greetings,

Training can be a wonderful way to connect with our canine companions, and it certainly can make living together a smoother experience. But it is important to remember that, just because a dog is smart, doesn't mean he is balanced.

Doggie Dental Care

Good dental hygiene is a lesson that we all teach our children, but we sometimes forget how important healthy teeth are for our canine companions. I couldn't let Pet Dental Health Month pass without saying a few words about this issue.

Cesar Millan on Introducing His Human "Puppies" to the Pack

Greetings,

Two of the proudest days of my life were when I introduced my ‘puppies’ into my pack. The “puppies” I am referring to, of course, are my sons Andre and Calvin. When they were just one month old, I took them to meet the dogs in his pack—and if not for the objections of Ilusion I would have taken them on the day they were born. I would get criticized by people all the time who would say, ‘How dare you put your kids around vicious breeds?’ But because my boys had always been around dogs, they had learned to trust, and to trust their instincts. If a kid comes in nervous, a dog will pick up on it right away.

The Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation Celebrates Its Third Anniversary!

Greetings,

Today marks the third anniversary of the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation. I am so proud of all we have been able to accomplish so far. It wouldn't have been possible without your support, and we cannot thank you enough. Together, I hope we can do even more for abused and abandoned dogs in our fourth year!

Puppy Love: Do Dogs Have Emotions?

Greetings,

There's no doubt in my mind that dogs have emotions. They feel joy after a job well done. They feel sad when a pack member passes away. And they feel love for their family members – their pack.

Update on the Puppy Pack

For the first two weeks of February, we're celebrating Puppy Love! If you have a puppy or plan to adopt one, I encourage you to prove your Puppy Love by fulfilling your dog's needs and providing him with a safe forever home. It's important to find the right match for your family – not just the cutest face – when selecting a puppy.

Indoor Exercise

In certain parts of the country, it can be nearly impossible to take your dog out for a walk during the winter season. The cold and inclement weather make it as much an issue of safety as one of time and commitment. But you don't have to give up on keeping your dog in good condition – physically and mentally – until the spring flowers start to bloom.

Walk Your Pet Month

Greetings,

January is Walk Your Pet Month. What a great way to start the year! I can't tell you how many behavior problems can be helped by providing more structured exercise. And it can actually help you to meet your own fitness goals. A recent study from the University of Missouri found that people who walk with dogs are more consistent in their exercise routine than those who walk with a human -- what could be a better way to burn off those holiday calories?

Cesar Reminisces about the Start of Dog Whisperer

Greetings,

I will never forget the beginnings of Dog Whisperer, in September 2004. Since it didn't air during primetime, there wasn't even advertising to promote the show.
