Dogs and walks go together like peanut butter and jelly. There is nothing better than seeing our dog’s face light up whenever we say “walk,” or another word that they understand to mean that they’re going to shortly partake in every dog’s favorite activity.
However, there is one dog named Silas who is deaf. Since he can’t hear, he can’t register that he’s going for a walk through words. So instead, his owner makes a gesture.
In fact, there are a few different gestures that Silas’ owner, Sean Flanagan, has taught him. That means that Silas is a deaf dog who understands sign language!
The New Orleans-based Flanagan wanted to cheat Silas sign language in order to better communicate with him and so he could understand key phrases – one of them being “we’re going to the park.”
