Dog Accidentally Runs A Half-Marathon And Finishes 7th After Being Let Out To Go Pee

During the Elkmont Trackless Train Half Marathon in Canada, runners were joined by a dog who had been let out for a potty break.

The adorable Bloodhound, named Ludivine, had managed to make his escape by crawling under the garden fence, where he then ran towards the race’s starting line.

This random adventure went quite well for Ludivine, who actually finished seventh in the race – even after stopping at the two-mile mark in order to sniff a dead rabbit.

This dog even went off the track on several occasions, like the time he went off to play with a herd of cows.

Incredible that he managed to secure a great time and place after crossing the line in just over an hour-and-a-half, while still managing to have loads of fun.

Elkmont’s Hound Dog Half‘s official Facebook page posted pictures of the adorable Ludivine participating in the half-marathon.

Ludivine was given a medal for her efforts, something that owner, 41-year-old April Hamlin, was proud of her pet’s impressive finish.

She spoke to Runner’s World and said, “All I did was open the door, and she ran the race on her own accord.”

“My first reaction was that I was embarrassed and worried that she had possibly gotten in the way of the other runners. She’s laid back and friendly, so I can’t believe she ran the whole half marathon because she’s actually really lazy,” Hamlin added.

Jim Clemens, who finished fourth in the half marathon, said, “Every time I thought she had dropped off to go back home, I would hear her coming back up to me and she would race past me up to the two leaders. She would run off to romp through the streams and into yards to sniff around for a while.”

Well done Ludivine!
