German Shepherd That’s Afraid Of Wooden Floors Has The Perfect Solution

Irrational fears take on many forms. For example, I have an irrational fear of spiders. Once while on vacation, I asked the front desk to send someone up to kill a spider at 4 am because I had an irrational fear it was going to crawl into my luggage and go home with me. Needless to say, I could hear the laughter on the other side of the phone.

But humans aren’t the only ones to experience irrational fears – some more crippling than others – animals are also prone to developing fears about certain things as well. They can be afraid of being left alone, afraid of the dark, the vacuum, other animals, etc. But our job as pet owners is to do our best to help them overcome them, or at least manage them so they don’t have to become a crippling source of anxiety.

And one German Shepherd’s owners managed to catch his fear on camera. And needless to say, it’s quite adorable to watch. This particular pup’s fear is the hardwood floors. Most of us humans wouldn’t think twice about walking on a hardwood floor, but for dogs, it can be a little different.

If you think about it, we can see where a fear of hardwood floors would come from. They are pretty hard, and produce noise when their little nails go clickety-clack across them, which we’re sure is probably grating for them to listen to. Either way, this German Shepherd was not wanting to walk across the hardwood flooring.

And in the video, his owner can be heard calling him over. However, the dog just peeks around the corner while whining – afraid to traverse the hallway because of the wooden flooring. He even approaches the floor but walks away again, clearly fearing what will happen if he sets foot on it.

It’s quite funny in the saddest way possible. He finally crosses the distance of the hallway after his owner manages to go and physically coax him along. And then when he finally crosses, he’s got an adorable little reaction – whatever helps you Sam!
