The Stray Rescue of Saint Louis recently had a very special group of visitors come to their shelter.

The photography project Dancers and Dogs brought dancers from the St. Louis Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker to the shelter, in order to transform the shelter into a winter wonderland – all in an effort to help get pets adopted.

During the visit, the ballerinas and the dogs – along with a few furry felines as well – got paired off together as adorable dance partners to take part in a photoshoot together. In the pictures, the animals strike adorable poses while the dancers dance around them in their full Nutcracker costuming.

Once the shoot was over, the stunning pictures were posted online where they’re now gaining a lot of attention, as well as getting praise for helping precious shelter pets find their forever homes in time for the holidays.

Kelly Pratt, one of the creators of Dancers and Dogs, said, “It’s special to know that our work might bring more attention to dogs and cats that deserve a second chance at a happy and comfortable life. And if we can bring a smile to people’s faces at the same time, all the better.”

Pratt and Ian Kreidich, both native to St. Louis, began the project as a fun idea, only to have it grow into something that truly gives back to the animals who take part in their photoshoots.

If one of the little sugarplum pets in the pictures has caught your eye, you can fill out an adoption application on Stray Rescue of Saint Louis’ website.
