The Saluki is considered to be one of the oldest dog breeds in existence, thought to be the type of dog mentioned in the Bible. They are also known as the Gazelle Hound, Arabian Hound, or Persian Greyhound. Salukis are sighthounds that were traditionally used to hunt gazelles in the Middle East. Salukis are held in high regard in the Middle East. They were named after the city of “Saluki,” which no longer exists today.
