The Stabyhoun, or Stabij is a rare breed that originates from Friesland, a province in the North of the Netherlands. The breed excels at hunting, guarding, and catching rodents. Stabyhouns are both retrievers and pointers, able to withstand cold rivers and lakes and are used to pull sleds in the winter months. The are friendly, easy to train, and eager to please. There are less than 3,500 Stabyhouns in existence today.
