The Swedish Vallhund, known as the “Viking dog,” was traditionally bred to herd cattle, guard homes, and catch rats. The breed was brought to Wales by the Vikings in the 800’s are said to be related to the Cardigan Welsh Corgi and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Swedish Vallhunds love attention and are known to instinctually crave leadership. As a result, a strong pack leader is recommended for this breed.
