Gabriel’s House — Hope for the Homeless
Affiliated with The Kingdom Center, Gabriel's House is a multi-denominational ministry dedicated to rescuing homeless women and children from the streets of Ventura County, providing them with a safe place to live and hope for the future.
Gabriel's House opened its doors in December of 2011 with 2 residents. It has a total capacity of 40 and it is currently operating at about a fourth of its capacity. Located at 1450 South Rose Avenue in Oxnard, Gabriel's House is situated on a charming 2 acre property surrounded by a peaceful commercial strawberry farm, and houses the women and children in a large seven bedroom, four bath ranch house, and a one bedroom, one bath guesthouse.
There are two distinct programs located at Gabriel's House: An Emergency Shelter, and a Transitional Living Facility, each occupying half of the facility. The Emergency Shelter side is geared toward women and children who need immediate help but who have the ability to move on to longer-term programs within ninety days. The Transitional Living Facility is meant for women and children who need longer-term help of up to two years.
All residents receive professional case management with the goal of equipping the women to gain life and work skills which will allow them to support themselves and their children upon graduation from the program.
