"My kids are around pit bulls every day. In the '70s they blamed Dobermans, in the '80s they blamed German shepherds, in the '90s they blamed the Rottweiler. Now they blame the pit bull."
- Cesar Millan

Pit Bulls
I have a blue nosed pit who is the most loving dog you will ever meet. We got him at about 12 weeks and my boyfriend and I were on the same page since day one about how we wanted to raise him. If everyone who knows Blu could describe him on one word it would be friendly. He is so loyal and very smart. We got him neutered recently and a lot of people questioned why we did it because where we are form his breed is considered rare, and the answer I give them all is if they have a problem with it- go rescue one from the shelter. There is too many who need a good home to bring more into this world. Also, I didn't get my dog to make money off of him, I got him for a companion, which he is. electronic cigarette

Hello Cesar, I'm from Mexico and I have two female pitbull a two-year-old Cafu name and the other a year and a half Tana name and the problem I have is that I can not make them get along in spite who grew up together.
Cafu most with me is very aggressive about not allowing the other to approach me think his aggression is because it was the first to get home. Tana is a bit subdued and quiet, and seen your TV show and website to see if any comments I can serve and not really succeeded and with this problem and had to desided in separate tube is another problem when trying to the tube put back together a confrontation at my feet and I was bitten by one of them really did not know who was but I figured that bit me was Tana.
Through this situation arose a fear for my baby 8 months old they know of but as I can be so sure that when put together do not pass the same situation and that is my baby instead of me or any other person porqe time and another confrontation and had several problems with authority because I fight pitbull neighbors say so shocking to see the fights between them and the truth of appreciation to both nimble and did not want any of them and how I can avoid that future litters will do the same.
Cesar Please help me.
Daddy was a wonderful role model
On January 5th of this year we had to put down our 14 year old yellow lab mix (part husky)whose name was Marley. We got him from the Humane Society in Delaware and he was named Marley. We understood he was abused as a puppy and was very timid with people at first. Once he realized he was part of our family he was the most loving, shy, sweetest dog you ever met. All the kids on the street just loved him and would stop by to see Marley. My neighbors said did your know that this was Marley's house not yours. We realized he was losing weight and had a hard time getting up and down. The only reason he stayed alive and never gave up was because of us. He had cancer and my husband and I went to the vet and stayed with him to say goodbye and both cried our our eyes as he went to sleep. Of all the animals we had growing up they will never be another Marley. And for you there will never be another Daddy but they live on in our hearts.
no such thing as a bad dog/ breed
I'm a beliver there is no such thing as a bad dog or a bad breed only misguided humans or bad humans. I know of a lets say friend who dosent like to put much time in to training at all and he got a baby pit i triend to tell him it will need training and for someone to show him when he is doing somthing he should not. he did not listen this dog feels at 5 months old it can attack my calm submissive dog. witch i did not agree with. after ocasions where he kept attacking my dog and my dog being scared of a lil puppy and no repramands or care of what my dog is going to do back there was a fightand my dog felt verry threatened becouse his dog cut him open and my dog fought back and i kicked that friend out of my house for good.both dogs are okay now but people need to learn what kind of dog is for there lifestyle pit was not for him. i fear that dog will have to be put down if he attacked a person or a child cus of lack of disaplin u let a dog do what ever he wants and develop bad behavoirs with out trying to adress them the out come is never good. i know many ppl want the dog of there dreams like i do one day i want a full german shepard but i do not have the land or the time to exersize a very energetic breed like that at this moment so i got a gsd mix and she fit in perfectly. so people please dont get the dog that u want without being relistic on the time it takes to train and the time to exersize or the responsibility to take it out. ive met alot of great pits in my life walks with out leashes with yorkies and many other dogs with out problems its just the time u need to comiit to your dog and im only 19 and i work go to school and will always have time for my dog i made the commitment to her and i will keep it. too bad that friend being 25 cant comprehend that.
my pitbulls saved mine and my infant sons lives
I am the proud owner of two amazing american pitbulls, Sable has been with my family over a year and she really has been a light in my darkest time, I was 8 month pregnant with my second son and had a one year old son asleep in his room and thier father was working when someone decided to break into my home, at the time i also had her father pudge who was an american pitbull and unfortunatly is no longer with us may he rest in peace , i was asleep in my room with my usual bed buddies and had no clue that their was an intruder trying to come into my home and while sable never barks and pudge barked so little i was begginig to wonder if he was a mute next thing i know both my dogs start shifting around in the bed and sable protectivly placed her self over my stomach and started issuing a growl that i had never heard escape her before i woke starteled and a little disorinted and it took me a second to realize there was a man standing in my living room, i was under the impression it was my kids father when i came to realize this man was an intruder, the first thing my pitbulls did were protect me and my son pudge ran past the man in the livingroom to my sons bedroom door and started barking and growling which is extremly out of character for the normal loveable people friendly dog he was, and sable wouldnt budge from the position she held on top of me i yelled out whos there and the man started advancing toward my bedroom and my dogs did something i have never seen before they didnt bite the man but simply teamed up to push him out my door and away from our home and stood in the doorway preventing him from comming back in the house until the police arrived on the scene at which point they calmed right back down to thier loveable friendly selves and attempted to engage the police officers in a game of fetch. If it werent for the loyal protective instincts of my dogs there is no telling what would have happened to me and my sons and the police were shocked when they realized my dogs were pitbulls, they like most people thought of them as cruel heartless monsters and that opinion changed very quickly when they realzed that these dogs prevented me and my son from being hurt with out even a single bite to the man that intended us harm. I now have another male name Lucian who is a little under a year old and he is truly one of the best dogs i have ever seen, my children can play with them all day and rough house away and my dogs never move, i have the most amazing picture of my son when hes three months old laying on pudge watching televison, you would honestly think that my kids belong to the dogs, they patrol the house going to thier bedroom to check on them at night and anytime my sons cry one dog stays with them and the other comes to find me. I wish people would wake up and realize these arent monsters and in a time of need there is no one i would rather have person or dog alike on my side than a well raised pitbull.
pitbulls
I agree with you 1000% I own 2 male pitbulls and they are the most loyal and protective dogs i have ever had the chance to be around. I don't have to think twice about leaving them home with my family. There is no doubt in my mind that when im not home they will protect my house and family to the death if need be. they have already proven to me that on one occasion. I think the biggest problem on the breed is that people don't take the time to research the breed. I researched the breed about 2 months before purchasing my first. I would never own another breed of dog!!!
My view is that dog is very
My view is that dog is very important for our life style, we can say it is a status symbol for rich people, it also support for the security of our house and help us for our daily work, so i think we should have dogs in our house.

Pit FAQ
You forgot a couple things, lol!
Famous pit (American Bulldog for those that like being specific, but they are grouped together) is Chance from the homeward bound movies. I believe the same dog (or similar) is also in the newest Cheaper by the dozen movies.
The ORIGINAL Incredible journey movie (& book) had another type of bully dog in them (A Spuds Mackenzie type for the specific)
English BullDogs were also omitted! In the past you'd NEVER have had one of THOSE in a house much less as a pet! But another GREAT example of how breeding took out the "bad trait" from a good dog! Most of the world seems to have forgotten what they were even bred for (or why they have that face, lol)
As for breed bans, We're currently stationed in Germany where the mere IDEA of banning the "JEWELS" of the Country is outrageous to most people here! It's the OWNERS lack of concern for the DOG that's hinted upon when the unthinkable happens over here! So ownership laws are MUCH stricter here but the shelters are also a lot smaller, lol! oh & dogs have more liberties (Yes you really CAN bring a bull into a china shop, a bully that is, lol) and good ownership SHOWS THROUGH with them. Restaurants, Malls, etc, dogs are welcome almost everywhere here (More so then children) so good upbringing & training are important!
My Staffy Rocky
i just wanted to comment and say that i own a staffordshire terrier and that he is the most amazing dog i have ever known. Rocky was given to my boyfriend at the car wash by a man who just didn't want him. he was eight weeks old, and asked my boyfriend if he wanted him, asking only that we not use him as a fighting dog (as if i ever would!). my boyfriend was in a hurry to get to work and asked if i could keep him at my house until he got off and figured out what to do with the poor little puppy. Eight months later and needless to say, we ended up keeping him, and he has made an wonderful addition to our family. We already had another mixed breed dog named Malcolm, and not only does Rocky get along great with him and other dogs, but he is absolutely IN LOVE with all kinds of people, especially kids. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT BREED OF DOG YOU HAVE, IT MATTERS HOW YOU RAISE IT. Banning dog breeds only intensifies people's fear of them, thus making the people who do want certain breeds for negative purposes aware that they can be used for fighting or trained to exhibit aggressive behavior. it is unfortunate that idiot humans can ruin the reputation of such wonderful breeds.
baby pitt bull
I recently rescued a 3 to 4 month old baby pitt bull in front of my office. I took her to the vet and thank God she helped me out. I was told if I took her to the shelter they would put her down. She was so emaciated. I never have seen a puppy in such bad shape. The vet took xrays and her belly was full of rocks. They named her Roxy. I found her a home and he is really trying to learn all he can about her. The reason I didn't want to keep her was because I too have been brain washed of all the bad press. My apartment complex doesn't even allow them. So yes I am kind of scared of them. But as I said before, she is now has a home. But he went out of town and I am now babysitting... And I am in love! She is so responsive to commands. She listens better than my dog and kids for that matter. :) She is so sweet. I am now wishing I would have not giving her away. I am just not sure I can be the type of owner she needs. I am reading tons about how to train her and have instructed her new owner to do the same. I read that I should not play tug of war with her. Should I be worried if she plays it with my other dog? He is a Boston Terrier and he loves to play rough with her. I am just concerned this might make her aggressive although they don't fight or seem to get mad at each other. Any advise would be appreciated.
Banning of pitbulls is wrong
I lived in Canada Ontario five years ago when pitbulls were banned. A child was attacked by a pitbull and just like that well as CBC (Canadian news) says:"PitBull Puppies born after Nov. 27, 2005 must be shipped out of the province, given to a research facility or destroyed."
DESTROYED!!!It's appallling.Today i believe there are only two or three provinces where pitbulls are allowed. If animal control hears of a pitbull under two years old in one of the banned provinces they are removed and euthanized, no chance, no hope.I am so appalled by this that i actually moved to a province where there is no ban. My sister has a pitbull and he is the sweetest dog i have ever met. It's frustrating for pitbull lovers in Canada because our voices are just not heard. Why won't anyone understand what you're all saying,it's the owners not the dog...I just wish there was something i could do to correct this disgusting mistake.
Frustrated and Apalled,Michelle
pit bull banning
I live in Canada and pit bulls are banned, which i believe is wrong. it's not the dog that behaves badly but the owners. It's ironic when you hear people say how bad pit bulls are yet statistically Golden retrievers bits are more common than any other dog bit. so why is it that pit bulls are banned?? It's sad that in Ontario any dog that looks like a pit bull is taken from the owner and put down. it's not the dog that creates the issues but irresponsible owners. people need to realize that any dog can have issues, not matter what the breed, if not shown proper leadership. I have a mix Boston terrier and Boxer have been asked if he is a pit bull. although i have all documentations showing his breed it's scary to know that he could be taken from me based on what he looks like, because of this absurd idea people have of how monstrous pit bulls are. people need to realize that leadership makes the dog and not the breed.
Pitt Bull named Butter
My pitt is a hero, he saved my life drawing my attention to my breast cancer. During recovery from surgury he never left my side. He died two years later to the date of lymphphoma. I have to tell everyone about him, I loved him so.
Pit Bulls - In uk same problem with Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Staffs are in our papers being blamed for attacking children but i have three children from 9 months to 10 years old and i would not trust any other breed around them.
It is to do with the owners.
Our "Jada"
I couldn't agree more. My husband and I have an American Pitbull Terrier, and would never ask for a better companion. She has been a part of our family since she was 6 weeks old, and is now almost 2. She is the biggest couch potato you will ever meet, and her favorite thing to do is sit in my 1 yr old's bedroom while he plays, and just watch him. She will even chase his toys when he throws them. We just had a baby and you would think it were our dogs' child. She loves our kids more than life itself, and I know in my heart she would do anything for our family. It's so sad how people give them such bad reputations, and I truely believe the people who do so, are ignorant, and know nothing about the breed. It's all in how you raise them. People should not focus on just one breed, because any dog, or animal for that matter, can have a "bad" side, just like humans. Recently we were told our homeowner's insurance would not be renewed because of our dog, and she needed to be off the premises ASAP. I have made phonecall after phonecall to share our story, and prove my dogs innocence and won't give up until I do so.
Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Sui, Steve Irwin's famous "best mate" was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Just watch the re-runs of "The Crocodile Hunter" or "The Croc Diaries" and any one can see how Sui wonderful was with Steve and Terri's children (There daughter, Bindi Sue was named after Sui)and the other animals @ The Australia Zoo and out in the wild. She was a sweet, loving dog and was another model dog like Daddy is today.
Pit Bulls - In uk same problem with Staffordshire Bull Terriers
So true. I am from the UK and run a rescue, my main aim is to save Staffordshire Bull Terriers as the pounds are inendated with them and many are being destroyed!
Over here Staffords are being slated as a bad breed due to them ending up in the hands of the wrong people and irresponsable owners! They have been called the devil dog which is far from the truth. They are known as the Nanny Dog by the KC and they are super with kids! I have two of my own and trust them with my kids. They are an amazing breed and so mnay responsable owners will show you this, as with the pitbulls. Just look at Daddy!
Pit Bulls - In Norway you shouldn't own a dog at all
The breed-banning problem is growing to hysterical heights in Norway! We are not allowed to own Pits, Amstaffs, Dogo Argentinos and next on the banning list are Staffordshire Bull Terriers and Rottweilers :( The police won't even bother to test your dog if they take it. If there's any doubt that your dog is legal, they destroy it. I have an 11 month old mixed breed (Rottweiler/Staffordshire bull terrier), and she looks exactly like a pit bull. My fear is that they will take her someday, even though she's registered and chip marked as a mixed breed.
When is tis insanity going to stop?? Is there anything to do about it? Is it to much to ask that the gouvernment start regulating the owners and not the breeds? There should be required some kind of sertificate to own dogs!
