Couple Rescues Pregnant Dog Hours Before She Gives Birth

Chris and Mariesa are the type of people who happily open up their home to those less fortunate – that is how they ended up with 8 dogs of their own! However, when they encountered Storie, a pregnant dog living at the local animal shelter, they felt obliged to help. The pair knew that they couldn’t just walk away and leave Storie to give birth at the shelter alone.

As Chris explained, “Dogs having puppies at shelters, it’s not the best thing for them. It’s stressful for her, stressful for the puppies.”

Chris and Mariesa agreed to foster Storie. They set the pregnant mama up with a wonderfully cozy bed in preparation for her delivery. They thought they had at least a few days left to get her adjusted to her temporary home, but they were wrong. This sweet dog went into labor only 18 hours after she arrived. And she had a large litter as well – 12 puppies!

The birth went well and both mama and babies were fine. In fact, within a few weeks of being born, the puppies were opening their eyes and exploring their new surroundings. Basically, just being adorable little puppies.

With 8 dogs of their own, Chris and Mariesa knew that they’d be insane to add another 13 dogs to their family. But that is where the Pibbles and More Animal Rescue came in to the picture, helping Chris and Mariesa to find homes for all the puppies. And Storie got her own happily ever after when she was taken in by a friend of Chris.
