Golden Retriever Saves Bird That Is Struggling In The Pool

Anyone who’s ever had a dog knows just how sweet and kind they can be. And not just to their owners, their loyalty and kindness will often extend to other animals around them. There are countless stories of dogs coming to the defense or aid of other furry creatures.

It’s just another reason why dogs are the absolute best!

One golden retriever dog in Buenos Aires, Argentina was hailed a hero after he jumped into action during a life or death situation that was quickly escalating in the family’s backyard. Yago, the heroic dog, came to the aid of an unlikely new friend.

Like his owners, Mariana Corti and her partner recalled, they were barely waking up, when they heard a commotion coming from the yard.

Mariana said, “When we woke up, we heard a flutter coming from the patio. When we looked out the window, we saw that a pigeon was fighting for its life in the pool.”

At the time, Yago was outside, so he immediately went to go investigate. That is when the dog saw a bird struggling in the pool. The dog seemed to know immediately that something was wrong and the bird needed help.

Mariana managed to capture on video the moment that Yago quickly went to the pigeon’s aid. Yago ran around the pool to where the pigeon was struggling and gently grabbed the bird’s wing in his mouth, pulling it out of the water and to safety. Then, Yago places the bird on the side of the pool, where it is able to dry off before flying away – completely unharmed.

Needless to say, Yago’s owners were quite proud of their dog’s selfless act of kindness. They uploaded the footage to social media. Not surprisingly, the video went viral, gaining loads of attention – much to Mariana’s surprise.
